Most known for: his millions of movies, including but not limited to: Splash, Big, Sleepless in Seattle, Philadelphia, Forrest Gump, Toy Story, Saving Private Ryan, and Charlie Wilson’s War
First known for: landing the role of Kip Wilson in the short-lived, but critically acclaimed television show, Bosom Buddies, and then he just kind of took off from there and never ever quit!
Up next: there are currently fourteen things listed as “In Development” on his IMDb page, but Toy Story 3 is in theatres this summer and Larry Crowne (which features an all-star cast, including Julia Roberts, Bryan Cranston, George Takei, among others) is out next year
Why you crushin’?: if you are a human being, you are sort of born just loving Tom Hanks. There is nothing about him or the majority of his choices that you don’t love; and, even if you find yourself disagreeing with anything he’s said or done, you always still make it a point to tell everyone that you still like him as a person. This past weekend, sparked by the idea of a Prom Hanks (a.k.a., the coolest thing I’ve ever heard of) and continually loving his “Hanx”-style tweets and twitpics, Ashley, her sister, Kaitlin, and I had a very-mini-Hanks-athon by watching our favorites, A League of Their Own and That Thing You Do!. I hadn’t seen either film in such a long time, but my love was re-sparked the second the first one started and hasn’t wavered since. This guy is incredible and I totally want him to be my other dad.
