Most known for: I guess, numbers-wise, most would know him from the film Watchmen where he played Ozymandias/Adrian Veidt (he was the one with the terrible German accent); he also played Mandy Moore’s love interest in Chasing Liberty (we all saw it)
Recently known for: donning a shitty Irish accent (boy is not good with accents!) in the new film, Leap Year, also starring Amy Adams, and, playing Jim – Colin Firth’s character’s dead ex-boyfriend – in the Tom Ford-directed A Single Man
Up next: just one thing thus far – he’ll play Mike Ramsey in the Ricky Gervais/Stephen Merchant penned and directed film Cemetery Junction, which also stars Ricky, Ralph Fiennes, and Emily Watson, among others.
Why you crushin’?: girl, do you see how scrufftastic this guy looks in the previews for Leap Year? Well, it worked on me because I saw it (by myself) the afternoon of its release. It was your regular, run-of-the-mill, completely predictable, cheesy romantic comedy, but he (and Ms. Adams) were pretty spectacular. And he is delectable. I was completely put off by him during the whole Watchmen thing – I take German accents very seriously; plus, I think he said some shitty thing in an interview I was mad about, but I’ve somehow forgotten all about it. I’ve come around to him, though. Hard. Oh, and this, obviously.
