in which i ain’t never had nobody like you.

who am i crushing on this week!

Name: Matthew Stephen Ward (a.k.a. M. Ward)
Occupation: Musician, Folkmonster
Status: Married (until he meets me, of course)
Most known for: well, he’s been around the indie music scene for quite some time – collaborating with a couple of my Gingers and such (Neko Case, Jenny Lewis, etc.) – but I guess he became super well-known when he hooked up with my ultimate wife and indie supergirl, Zooey Deschanel, for their supergroup-of-sorts, She & Him
Recently known for: supergrouping with Conor Oberst, Jim James/Yim Yames, and Mike Mogis as Monsters of Folk
Up next: nothing more than a solo show in Hawaii on December 16th; dude needs a break after touring She & Him, solo, and then Monsters of Folk for the past few years!
Why you crushin’?: so, I’m a dummy, and forgot about my ticket to the Monsters of Folk show that came around to Philadelphia while I was Old Dogs premiere-ing it up in Los Angeles. I will be forever regretful that I missed this show. I hear from friends and online strangers about how amazing it was – the best concert they’d ever been to. I’ll never forgive myself for being so absent-minded! Well, I’ve been living vicariously through them by repeating their self-titled album any chance I get. And, M. Ward in particular just has such a dreamboat, soothing, milk voice. I die. Also, I’ll never forget all of the times he looked straight into my staring eyes when I saw She & Him live two years ago. Oh, and and! I have the pick he used from that very show. I’ll never lose it, ever. (Except that, now that I’m thinking about it, I need to make sure I know where it is.)

There. Now that song will be in your head all day.
