in which my face is super peely, and that has nothing to do with this post.

who am i crushing on this week!

Name: Brook Busey (a.k.a. Diablo Cody)
Occupation: Screenwriter-I-aspire-to-be
Status: Um, I have no idea. I think she has a boyfriend? Or, she did? She was also married for a second, too.
Most known for: her Oscar-winning, first screenplay Juno
First known for: writing wittily on some blogs; first was in character as a secretary, and the next was chronicling her year as a stripper at the Pussy Ranch (and later in her memoir, Candy Girl: A Year in the Life of an Unlikely Stripper)
Up next: Showtime’s United States of Tara, which Steven Spielberg enlisted her writing expertise for, has been picked up for a second season; and her newest film, Jennifer’s Body, will be released in September – but the red-band trailer is out now:

Why you crushin’?: basically, I saw the above trailer today and immediately knew who this week’s crush would be. I’ve had an on-off relationship with Brook (I like to call her this because we’ll be best friends one day) since Juno‘s release. I saw the movie thrice in theatres, loved every aspect, and then hopped on the hate-train for a while out of pure jealousy, I suppose. Just before United States of Tara premiered, I came around to my envy idea (as in, I finally accepted that I was just green and that’s why I was hatin’) and jumped right back into the Diabo-loveshack. I don’t even like Megan Fox (in fact, I sort of hate her; this time, not out of one ounce of jealousy), but I am very excited to see the above film! I’m currently writing my very first screenplay, and just seeing a success like hers has me optimistic and also very, very intimidated. I don’t think I’ll ever write as bitingly as she writes. Now I’m sad.

  1. boyfriend’s friend Kyle Gallner is in “Jennifer’s Body” and smooches Megan Fox. wooooooah.

  2. Oh my gosh, why aren’t we living in Hollywood and best buds with this guy and all his friends?

But seriously, I have no idea if writers are supposed to separate their work and only work on one thing at a time, but whatevies! If you ever want to get together and write stuff, let me know! I’ve got ideas!
